Issue

I am using the flow control setting "RS485 Transceiver Control - Set RTS high while sending". On the receive data stream, some characters (ASCII code 19 and ASCII code 17) are missing. What is wrong here?

Applies to: Docklight V1.7-V1.8 / Docklight Scripting V1.7-V1.8

Solution

This is a bug in Docklight V1.7/V1.8. The "RS485 Transceiver Control" also activates XON/XOFF software flow control by mistake. So the characters ASCII code 19 (XOFF, pause transmission) and ASCII code 17 (XON, resume transmission) are used for flow control and do not appear in the RX data stream, and, even worse, can block the transmission of data. The problem only appears with protocols that actually make use of ASCII code 19 and ASCII code 17, so unfortunately it remained undetected for a long time. The bug will be corrected in the upcoming V1.9 (free) update. Please contact us for a pre-release beta version, if you need this problem fixed immediately.
