Question
Docklight runs really slow on my PC. When I use Hyperterminal or my old
DOS-based tool, I can monitor all the communication, but Docklight seems to be
too slow for this. What can I do?
Applies to:
Docklight (all versions)
Answer
Docklight does a lot more than Hyperterminal and other small terminal applications.
The communication data received is processed byte-by-byte and a lot of formatting
and conversion rules are applied. Most of the processing time is consumed for the
visual formatting and display buffer updates.
But there are ways to speed this up:
If you do not require different colors for the two communication directions in
different colors, try "Plain Text Mode". Also, in many cases, the decimal or
binary display is not needed, so disabling these communication window
representations will result in better performance as well.
See the section "How to Increase the Processing Speed ..." of the Docklight
User Manual for more information.
