Question
Can I use a USB-to-Serial adapter (or any other interface board/adapter) with Docklight?
Applies to: Docklight (all versions)
Answer
If the device appears as a COM port in Windows (which should be true for most devices available), then Docklight is able to
use it. If in doubt or if you suspect that Docklight cannot operate the device,
cross-check with the HyperTerminal accessory. Make sure that you use the same
communications settings. NOTE: Some of the baud rates or communication features available in
Docklight may not work correctly with a specific hardware adapter / Windows driver software.
We also experienced some difficulties with some early device driver versions for USB-to-Serial adapters.
See our troubleshooting section for additional help. We would very much welcome any feedback, if you are still experiencing
any problems with a certain hardware.
